5 things to do in Liverpool just for Fun
7-11 Sir Thomas Street, Liverpool L1 6BW

If you haven’t been to one of these you are in for a treat, in no time at all you will be sacked by your boss, punched by your auntie Mabel and fall out with at least three friends for life.
Breakout Liverpool is a live escape room game, in which you are locked in a room with friends, family or work colleagues (personally fills me with horror with some of mine, but whatever floats your boat) for an hour and have to solve a sequence of posers and whodunits to escape. You will have to search high and low for clues and work as a team if you want to escape. You have 60 minutes to achieve this by using only your brain (insert family/colleague name here to whom this doesn’t apply) as there are no physical undertakings or trials by combat involved in the game.
There are eight different rooms each of which requires a crew of between 2 to 5 people to work out how to escape within 60 minutes.
If you are trying it for the first time, my advice is for you to go for the easiest room (two star difficulty) and have at least three in your team.
Good luck, Norman from clerical is still in there.

Visited and played Vacancy with some friends, it was such a good game and Emily C was a really amazing host and gave really good hints when we got stuck. I can’t wait to play again!

It seems legit but fairly obvious to include somewhere called the Laughter House in a blog about places to go and have a laugh with your mates. To say this is a must for all aspiring comedians is to undersell it and use it as a threat at the same time, the intimacy (or threatening nature, take your pick) of the gig only adds to its fame. And now it has teamed up with Hangar 34 at the Baltic Triangle to provide a venue for bigger touring artists and fellow travellers, go and sit there and just laugh at them while they work, see how they like it.
Check the website for show times and venues.

We ended up here at the Open Mic night with Jake Doran, and it was a brilliant end to our evening. The staff were friendly and welcoming, despite the late hour. Lovely atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks.

Mersey Games is a whacky activity day filled giggle and poop fest for Hen and Stag parties or a team building day with work or even a zany birthday for that craaaazy family member who likes dressing up as a chicken, setting you up perfectly for the night ahead in Liverpool. Unlike Breakout, this is where there are physical challenges and trials by combat, and unlike the Laughter House this is where people are going to laugh at you, yes you dressed as a nun while Mersey Games post live to Facebook, when you’ve told your missus the boss has made you come in over the weekend to work, enjoy.
All hours: Sat 10:30 – 13:00
13:30 – 16:00
Open: March to October outdoors
Jan to March indoors.
Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom
Daughters hen weekend, absolutely loved it. Couldn’t stop laughing. Ryan was very patient and such a lovely young man. Thank you so much Ryan for giving us a great experience. I’m over 50, like a creaking gate but I managed it and had a ball.
Robert Cain Brewery Stanhope Street, L8 5XJ

Crazy golf, cocktails, street food and DJ’s in an old brewery, it doesn’t get any better than this, this is laser quest, for older, less mobile and posher folk. There has been a bit of a hype around this but more often than not it lives up to it, with more bars and places to eat than you can shake your sand wedge at.
Ghetto Golf is done out with imaginative ghetto decoration and ideas for each hole, starting off in an 80s style caravan and with uneven floorboards so your ball rolls off before you even hit anything but that’s where the fun come in.
Open: 7 days 15:00 til Late
Southport, United Kingdom
Family time. Not easy finding something to do that both parents and grown-up kids will enjoy! This was ideal, we all loved it and had a really good laugh!
Having a Bubble Football
151 Park Lane, Bootle, L20 9PQ
Having a Bubble football is a non-stop-laugh-a-minute-gas-escaping-smile-til-your-face-hurts-fiesta. If there was ever an hour of simple, pure fun, then bubble football is it. Bash, smash and crash (the three least known dwarves) into your friends and enemies in an organised game of footy. Perfect for Liverpool Stag and Hen parties, birthdays, corporate events as well as kids parties.
Open: it says 7 days 9-11, but I’d check first.
End of Exams with the lads
After our Exams, myself and 9 others decided to book bubble football. We got in contact with Mark who was really helpful for us. We booked the session and I can honestly say we had the best time ever. The session was one of the best experiences ever. Interesting and action-packed, we all came away with nothing bad to say.
